The Los Angeles Lakers have confirmed that Kobe Bryant will have season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday. Bryant suffered a torn rotator cuff during the Los Angeles Lakers 96-80 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. The Lakers confirmed the procedure via Twitter on Monday. A 17-time All-Star, Bryant only appeared in six games in 2013-14 due to a left knee injury. In 35 games this season, Bryant has averaged 22.3 PPG to go along with 5.6 APG, 5.7 RPG and a career-low .373 FG%. The injury to the 36-year-old Bryant marks the third serious loss for the Lakers this season. Veteran point guard Steve Nash was ruled out for the year a week before the season, which was to be his last in the NBA, started due to a lingering back injury. Then, during the Lakers season opener, rookie Julius Randle, the seventh-overall pick in last Junes NBA Draft, broke his right tibia, sidelining him for the rest of the season. Last week, Bryant was announced as a starter for the Western Conference for the NBA All-Star Game to be held in New York City on February 15. Canadian ladies champion Kaetlyn Osmond is feeling the same kind of heat as hers has been a season of untimely injuries which have cost her valuable training time. Six women fighting for two spots. Kaetlyn has posted by far the best scores to date, but she will contend with a Canadian Champion and some young and feisty up-and-comers and so will have to be on her toes, so to speak. This is about dreams coming true and bitter disappointments. About your last four years being defined by the next four minutes. About becoming a champion, a medalist, an Olympic team member or going down trying.
