MIAMI -- Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will back off his rehab from a strained hamstring because of sore knees and there is no timetable for his return. Stanton went on the disabled list April 30 after getting hurt a night earlier. Manager Mike Redmond said Thursday that Stanton could continue to play catch and hit, but will not be able to run. The news meant there was no timetable on Stantons return. "He came in a couple of days ago with sore knees, so weve had to back him off," Redmond said. "He just started lightly jogging and just now complaining about his knees being sore." Redmond said that calling him disappointed with the Stanton news was "an understatement." During Marlins batting practice minutes later, Stanton was seen running lightly on the warning track. Redmond, through a team spokesman after batting practice, said Stanton apparently ran on his own to test the knees. Stanton is hitting .227 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 20 games. He appeared to be coming around offensively right before being injured. Mariners Jerseys China . He finished off that season with seven consecutive scoreless outings -- five as a reliever -- and spent the 2015 season pitching in Japan. He was in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system this year when the pitching-desperate Mariners acquired him to start a game June 24. LeBlanc took the mound two days after being dealt from Toronto and threw six scoreless innings to help the Mariners snap a six-game losing streak in what was originally expected to be a spot start.LeBlanc used an 88-mile-per-hour fastball, drawing numerous comparisons to former Mariners star Jamie Moyer, to help beat the St. Louis Cardinals and the Mariners are curious to see if he can continue to grind out more zeroes.Baltimores offense was on a tear in June with a major league record 56 home runs, but the Orioles (47-40) couldnt get much going against Seattles Taijuan Walker in Thursdays series opener. After that game, which saw Baltiimores seven-game winning streak come to an end, Orioles manager Buck Showalter was able to see the bright side.ddddddddddddThree winning months, and thats the kind of consistency well have to have to stay atop the American League East, Showalter said after Baltimore finished June 19-9. ...
