theres pressure every year, MacLe Antworten

Sebastian Vettel gave under-pressure Ferrari an early Spanish GP boost by leading a one-two for the team in opening practice, as Max Verstappen made a promising debut for Red Bull. However, the devil was in the detail where the P1 order was concerned, as although Ferrari outpaced the Mercedes cars, they used the quicker soft tyres whereas the world champions did not.Underlining the unrelenting rate of development in F1 on a weekend when most teams are introducing upgrades, Vettels quickest time of 1:23.951 on a green track was already seven tenths of a second quicker than last years Barcelona pole lap. He outpaced team-mate Kimi Raikkonen by 0.138 seconds. Championship leader Nico Rosberg was half a second back in third place, but Mercedes ran exclusively on the slower medium compound, just as they did in winter testing at the Circuit de Catalunya. The softs which Ferrari used are worth 0.5-0.8s in lap time.Whats new on the cars?Lewis Hamilton, who trails team-mate Rosberg by 43 points heading into the first European round of the season, was fourth, a tenth adrift of the German as the team trialled a new pointy nose on the W07.Meanwhile, with the Red Bull driver swap story having dominated build-up to the race weekend, Verstappen and Daniil Kvyat got down to on-track business at their respective new teams. On his first ever outing in the RB12, Verstappen finished sixth quickest with his best time just a tenth slower than Red Bull regular and new team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.Im impressed by what hes done there in that session. I think hell be pretty pleased with that, said Sky Sports F1s Anthony Davidson.Verstappens session had got off to a slightly shaky start, as he ran off the track at Turn One at the end of his opening flying lap and damaged his first set of tyres. On his next run, the 18-year-old then reported he was having problems accelerating, which promoted a swift return to the pit lane so the Red Bull mechanics could investigate.Having been removed from the main Red Bull line-up, Kvyats first session back in a Toro Rosso car for 18 months saw him finish 12th, four places and half a second back on his new stable-mate Carlos Sainz. Both Red Bulls finished ahead of the Williamses, who were seventh and ninth with Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa respectively, with Fernando Alonso 10th for McLaren. The Woking team, fresh from a double points finish of 2016 in Russia, have made a number of changes to their MP4-31 chassis for this weekend - with the arrival of a new front wing catching the eye. It is brilliant, this is the most intricate front wing I have ever seen. The other new bits for McLaren are new brake ducts, a new floor, new diffuser and a new rear wing as well.Young Frenchman Esteban Ocon made his practice debut for Renault, but the 19-year-olds session proved a near write-off thanks to technical problems. He finished bottom of the order without a time.Britains Jolyon Palmer, who is thought to be coming under pressure for his seat from Ocon, returns for Practice Two, which begins at 1pm BST live on Sky Sports F1.Practice One timesheet1. The lower tier of the School End of Queens Park Rangers Loftus Road was packed solid with a very festive-sounding Chelsea choral section in this particular part of South Africa Road London, W12. ARLINGTON, Va. -- When Matt Niskanen contemplated skipping a trip to the gym over the summer, he remembered what happened in May.As the offseason went on, Niskanen thought less and less about the Washington Capitals loss to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Instead, he let the memory of the second-round playoff exit fuel him from time to time. That hurt, it lingers, and I think you can use that as motivation, Niskanen said. That kind of stuff creeps into your mind and it pushes you.Now several months removed from another painful playoff loss, the Capitals came to training camp ready to harness whatever energy they could from that while also preparing to move past it and focus on another run at the Cup this season. Almost the entire roster is back from the Presidents Trophy-winning team that ran roughshod over the NHL during the regular season, and with Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and goaltender Braden Holtby in their primes, there isnt time to waste on reflection and hindsight. You need to see where things went awry and try to rectify it, said veteran winger Justin Williams, one of several players with one year left on his contract. We set a standard with having successful teams, a team every year fans can look at and say, `You know, we legitimately have a chance to win it again. As players we embrace that and we respect it and we know that these opportunities that we have in front of us arent forever.Along with Williams, winger T.J. Oshie and defenseman Karl Alzner could be unrestricted free agents July 1. Restricted free agent center Evgeny Kuznetsov will get a big raise on a new deal, and Washingtons salary cap picture will get more difficult as the years go on.Ovechkin also just turned 31, and while he led the league in goal-scoring last season, theres no certainty as to how long his Hall of Fame-caliber production will keep up. After winning the division by 16 points and losing in the second round -- again -- general manager Brian MacLellan doesnt think theres a bigger burden on winning this year with so many unknowns on the horizonn.ddddddddddddI think theres pressure every year, MacLellan said. Last year we were a contender, theres pressure. Same pressure this year. We have a goal of winning a championship. We know were close and we need to pursue it and well do everything we can to get there.Alzner was just starting to get over the early exit when pictures of the Penguins celebrating with the Cup filled up his social media feeds. The ironman whose groin injury forced him out of the deciding Game 6 and led to sports hernia surgery scoffed at the notion that Pittsburgh winning makes the loss easier to take. Its worse, in my opinion, because then you really think, `OK if I could have got past that team then the Cup was ours, said Alzner, whos still working his way back to 100 percent. I think that all of us in the room thought that we were going to win that last year.Being great in the regular season and losing in the first or second round has become the Capitals reputation over the past decade. The 2015-16 team was perhaps the best on paper, which made the late stumble into summer that much more confounding. As more top players continue to trickle back into town after playing in the World Cup of Hockey, associate coach Todd Reirden expects the staff to impart lessons about last season on the full group. Early in camp, the mood is light with players eager to make a fresh start and learn from losing to the Penguins.Asked what the Capitals can do to improve, Williams deadpanned: We can finish the season with a win. Thats it.Thats a challenge that cant be accomplished until the spring. Players, coaches and fans may want to fast-forward until then, but Washington has to again get there first.Youve got to be patient, center Jay Beagle said. The game has to develop. Weve got new guys, so we want to go into this year making sure were playing our best going into the end of the year and in the playoffs.---Follow Stephen Whyno on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/SWhyno .
