February 28 before ending their Group campaign with Antworten

CALGARY, Alberta -- While Brian Elliott has newfound confidence in net for the Calgary Flames, the Ottawa Senators will be without their starting goaltender for the foreseeable future. After backstopping the Flames (3-4-1) to back-to-back road wins over the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues on Monday and Tuesday, Elliott will attempt to keep his momentum going against the Senators (4-2-0) at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday.Elliott, who the Flames acquired from the Blues on June 24 in exchange for a second-round draft pick (35th overall) in 2018 and a conditional third-rounder, started his tenure with the Flames with three straight losses before bouncing back to stop 54 of 57 shots he faced during Calgarys two wins earlier this week.I dont think Ive felt bad the other ones too, said Elliott. I just think we kind of beat ourselves the first few games. Now were getting the picture of how we need to play each and every night. We played good road-style hockey and if we can bring that kind of hockey at home well be successful as well.Meanwhile, the Senators announced on Thursday that goalie Craig Anderson has taken a leave of absence and that theres no timetable for his return. With the support of the entire organization, weve provided Craig with a leave of absence so that he can attend to a personal matter at home, said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion in a statement. While we are uncertain of how long Craig may be away, he will continue to have our support for as much time as is needed. We will respect his privacy and will have no further comment at this time.Anderson improved his record this season to 4-1-0 after making 22 saves to backstop the Senators to a 3-0 road win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The 35-year-old veteran has also compiled a 2.95 goals against average to go with a .903 save percentage. In his absence, the Senators will go with the goaltending tandem of Andrew Hammond and Chris Driedger, who was called up from the AHLs Binghamton Senators.Hammond, 28, will get the start on Friday and is hoping to bounce back from his only previous appearance of the season, a 5-1 road loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 17 in which he stopped 20 of 25 shots he faced. After going 20-1-2 in his rookie campaign with the Sens in 2014-15, Hammond went 7-11-1 last season and even spent a stint in the AHL in Binghamton where he had no wins to go with two losses. In just 55 minutes of NHL action over the past two seasons, Driedger has made 21 saves without allowing a goal. The 22-year-old netminder, who starred for the WHLs Calgary Hitmen for three seasons from 2011-14, has never started or been the goaltender of record in an NHL game. While Elliott played a starring role against his former team on Tuesday in St. Louis, Flames right winger Alex Chiasson told CalgaryFlames.com that hes looking forward to going up against his old squad at the Saddledome on Friday. Its always a little special playing previous teams, said Chiasson, who Calgary acquired from Ottawa in exchange for defenseman Patrick Sieloff on June 27. I have a good amount of friends on that team, but when the game starts its a game day just like any other day. Thats part of pro hockey, really. After starting the season on Calgarys fourth line, Chiasson has been elevated to play alongside center Sean Monahan and left winger Johnny Gaudreau.I know that itd be nice to be on the scoresheet a little more, but at the same time its a process of trying to stay focused mentally on that, do the good things and the rest of the stuff is going to come, said Chiasson, who has just one goal to show for his efforts through eight games with the Flames. If I keep playing with those two guys, I think I can bring an element to that line that they dont have, and they can just play. Derrick Pouliot Jersey . Cote was eligible to become a free agent Feb. 15. Cote helped running back Jon Cornish run for a league-high 1,813 rushing yards en route to being named the leagues most outstanding player. Seventh Canuck Jersey . The Redskins announced Monday that the quarterback who led the team to the Super Bowl championship in the 1987 season will serve as a personnel executive. http://www.cheapcanucksjerseyschina.com/ben-hutton-jersey/ .C. -- Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Bobcats got off to a fast start, and the Sacramento Kings were never quite able to catch up. Kirk Mclean Jersey . Haas said he "felt a lot of pain" in his right shoulder when he slammed his racket to the ground in frustration after losing his serve at 3-3 in the first set. Igor Larionov Jersey . Ibaka equaled a career high with 20 rebounds, adding four blocked shots and 15 points as the Thunder smothered the Milwaukee Bucks offence in a 92-79 victory Saturday night.England will face a high-pressure showdown with Scotland if they succumb to unbeaten New Zealand in Fridays World Cup clash in Wellington, says Mark Butcher. Eoin Morgans men, who lost to Australia by 111 runs in their opening Group A game, face another tough encounter when they take on the Black Caps, who overcame Scotland by three wickets on Tuesday to make it two wins from two games. Opener Moeen Ali says England must up their skill level against the co-hosts and former batsman Butcher told Sky Sports World Cup that a second defeat would be tough to recover from. New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum says his side will have to play extremely well against England Having played so poorly against Australia in the first game, all be it that nobody expected England to turn Australia over at the MCG, you then go along and play one of the other favourites in the competition, New Zealand, and you are 0 & 2 if you lose that one, he said.Suddenly the Scotland game - something that you would walk through - ends up being something that you really have to concentrate hard on.At the moment, the way that some of the England players are going in terms of their form, youd imagine that the nerves would be ramped up to very close to 100 per cent. So its not going to be straightforward for them.I do think that New Zealand gave Scotland an enormous opportunity in terms of the way that they batted; I think that Brendon McCullum will be disappointed with the lack of professionalism in that run-chase, even if they were trying to get it done as quickly as possible to boost their net run-rate. Marcus North and Charles Colville enter The Zone to assess Englands performance against Australia at the Cricket World Cup But even so, to allow the opposition captain to stand there and say we ran them close will be disappointing; they didn’t really - I think that’s pushing it a little bit too far.dddddddddddd New Zealand allowed Scotland to feel as though they got close. The game was a very one-sided affair. After taking on England, co-hosts New Zealand face Australia in Auckland on February 28 before ending their Group campaign with matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh on March 7 and March 13 respectively.Butcher says that the Black Caps, who play all of their games on home turf, will be out to prove a point on Friday.New Zealand will be looking forward to playing England; most teams - the former colonies, if you like - enjoy playing against England whenever, wherever. In a home World Cup and, given the sort of form theyve been in over the last six to 12 months, New Zealand will be desperately looking forward to that England game. They will not be as profligate when it comes to their turn to win a game against England as they were against Scotland.New Zealand took a firm grip against Scotland thanks to a devastating new ball burst from Trent Boult and Tim Southee that reduced Preston Mommsen’s side to 12-4.Boult (2-21) found prodigious movement to trap Calum Macleod and Hamish Gardiner for golden ducks - but Butcher believes theres no reason why Englands new-ball attack cant wreak similar havoc.Jimmy Anderson is the most effective bowler with the new white ball in the first 10 overs of the game, he said.He could very easily do to New Zealand what Trent Boult has just done to Scotland. Those deliveries could have got any batsman out.If you get the ball full enough and its swinging, you have the chance of making in-roads in a match. You can lose a match in the first 10 overs by batting poorly, so England will look at New Zealands performance and say these guys threw it away, let’s make them do it again.Watch England take on New Zealand from 12.30am this Friday morning on Sky Sports World Cup. Then don’t miss England against Scotland on Sunday. Our coverage begins at 9pm. No contract? Dont miss out! Get a Sky Sports Week Pass and watch all the action live ' ' '
