I don’t want to write a column regarding how worried the Detroit Lions should be about the Washington Redskins any more than you want to read it.So Womens Bryce Love Jersey , I won’t.A few weeks ago, when the Redskins were about to face inevitable defeat at the hands of the mighty Patriots, I said:[Y]ou are not obligated to endure this misery. It isn’t your responsibility. You don’t play for the team. You aren’t employed by the organization. You don’t cover the team for a living. If you do fall into any of those categories, God help you, but all or nearly all of you don’t, and you need not suffer.I meant every word.I mean it even more now.Like most of us, I’ve been more than patient with this team and this franchise.I’m still very interested in the NFL because I love football, but spending half a Sunday afternoon watching the Redskins play because I love football would be like someone eating dinner at Burger King every weekend because he loves high-quality beef. You know what? That’s not fair to Burger King. That organization is far more competent and produces a far better product than the Washington Redskins.Anyway, as much as we want to walk away, I also know that we all crave seeing watching a good Redskins team, and even watching an exciting match-up between, say, the 49ers and Packers, can’t satiate the particular need to see our own team do well. That’s why, from here on in, this column is going to serve an entirely different purpose than pointlessly previewing a nearly meaningless game played by a contemptible, lamentable, damnable football team.Maybe I’ve been binging too much Man in the High Castle, but it occurs to me that we need not continue to live in this nightmarish hellscape that is Redskins fandom in 2019.Instead, let’s focus on an alternative world—one in which Washington is still fun to watch. For the rest of the season, I’ll instead offer a pick each week of a classic Redskins game that can be viewed for free on YouTube.Consider it counter-programming for those of you who don’t find other NFL games or Red Zone to be a satisfactory alternative to watching the Skins.I’ll avoid the Super Bowls, as I assume all of us have watched those multiple times.I’ll give you the historical set-up and stakes for each game, but I won’t reveal the final score or spoil anything definitive.I’ll even mix in a loss every now and then for the sake of unpredictability. This week’s alternative game: New York Jets at Washington Redskins (1987 - Week 6)Preview: The 4-1 Redskins were coming off of one of the biggest upsets in NFL history, as the replacement Skins had beaten the Dallas Cowboys 13-7 on Monday Night Football, despite the fact that numerous key Cowboy regulars had crossed the picket line to play.Washington famously completed its replacement games 3-0 after a 1-1 start.Joe Walton’s Jets hadn’t fared as well, starting 2-0 but winning just one of three replacement-player games. Now, the 3-2 Jets had a chance to move back toward the top of the AFC playoff picture with a win in Washington. The Jets were led by quarterback Ken O’Brien, runners Freeman McNeil and Johnny Hector, and Pro Bowl wideout Al Toon.Defensively, Mark Gastineau was still a solid situational pass-rusher, but the New York Sack Exchange was no longer the force it had been three or four years earlier. In fact, Washington actually had the better pass rush at this point, led by Charles Mann, Dexter Manley, and Monte Coleman. However, despite their record, and despite being seven-point favorites at home, the Redskins entered the game with more open questions than the Jets did.Not only had the Washington regulars lost a game, the Redskins were the only team in the NFL that hadn’t had a single player cross the picket line. That meant that it had been over a month since a non-replacement Redskin had played a down of NFL football.Washington had scored 54 points in its two pre-strike games, but it remained to be seen if there would be any rust for Jay Schroeder (still the starter at this point in the year), Gary Clark, Keith Griffin https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , George Rogers, Art Monk, and the Hogs to shake off in order to get past the Jets. How would Washington fare in this pivotal return game?Gather round the warm, comforting glow of your tablet or smartphone this Sunday (or right now!) and wash away the anger and shame associated with the current infuriating disaster in favor of a time when this franchise was synonymous with competence, professionalism, pride, and excellence.Enjoy. And Hail to these Redskins. RICHMOND, Va. (AP)Jordan Reed has two fewer bones and a whole lot of peace of mind.Toe soreness in offseason workouts more than a year ago became lingering pain that threw off everything for the Washington Redskins tight end. Overcompensation led to a hamstring injury that kept Reed off the field, and he never felt like himself even when he was able to play.So Reed went under the knife twice to have a sesamoid bone in each big toe removed. Reed now feels ”100 times better” and hopes his toe injuries are a thing of the past so he can get back to his form of 2015, when he had 87 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns.”It’s definitely a relief,” Reed said Friday. ”Just having that nagging pain for two years was awful and now it’s gone, so it’s just a lot better.”Reed said toe fractures gave him little choice but to have the surgeries, one on his left foot in December and the other on the right in February. They’ve so far worked out far better than his decision to get a stem-cell injection in the summer of 2017 that aggravated his toe problem so much he couldn’t walk. That self-described ”poor decision” completely derailed Reed’s season, limiting him to 27 catches in six games. He tried orthotics in his shoes to ease the pain, but nothing worked, leading to an operation that’s more common for dancers and exceedingly rare for the general public.”That’s usually kind of like the last stop on the train,” said Mark Drakos, a foot and ankle surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. ”They’re very little bones. They’re about the size of like a Peanut M&M, so they’re very, very small. Most bones, if they break or they don’t heal, we’ll go in and fix them with plates and screws of if you break your ankle, we put it back together. These are so small that a lot of times we just take it out because it’s quicker. It’s a quicker recovery.”Reed is well past the usual eight-to-12-week recovery period and has looked sharp in individual and team drills early in camp. Just having him on the field again is a plus for the Redskins, who need the 28-year-old to create matchup problems for opposing defenses.”He is a unique guy at the tight end position that can do so many things: route-running with the ball in his hands after the catch,” new quarterback Alex Smith said. ”He is oftentimes the guy that it doesn’t really matter who’s lined up against him – linebacker, safety, corner. He is a guy that I think has the skill set to win against all these positions.”Coach Jay Gruden, who early in camp a year ago didn’t think Reed’s toe injury would be a long-term concern, is hopeful now because, as he put it, ”I have to be.””I think he’s one of the top tight ends in the National Football League when healthy,” Gruden said. ”Last year, he tried to fight through a couple of those injuries in the offseason. He got them fixed, so hopefully we’ll put an end to all those foot and toe injury things and ankle. Jordan, he feels great right now, very optimistic about the way his body feels and now it’s our job to make sure we just progress him along at a good rate.”Gruden hopes to get Reed into a preseason game or two and have him 100 percent for the season opener against Arizona. from injuries, Reed is taking a conservative approach as he balances restraint with the excitement of what he could do when finally healthy again.”Still working through that with the coaches and taking it slow,” he said. ”I’m just getting my body built back up. … I’m confident moving forward.”NOTES: Second-year LB Ryan Anderson left practice with back spasms and he’s considered day-to-day. A team spokesman said RB Rob Kelley’s departure was heat-related. … LB Zach Brown was a limited participant in team drills a day after straining the quadriceps muscle in his left thigh. … The team’s afternoon walkthrough was cut short by lightning. Unlike their regular practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia, outside Washington, the Redskins do not have an indoor bubble at their Richmond site.—

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ferrell and Felecia Edmunds didn’t make things overly complicated for their sons Trey Womens James Conner Jersey , Terrell and Tremaine growing up.The rules of the house were pretty simple. Especially the first two: finish everything and try your best to win.Easy to remember if not always easy to live by, particularly if you happened to be the brother on the losing end of a game of say, Madden. Or didn’t clean your plate first. Or came in second (or, even worse, third) in any of the daily competitions between the three.“Our parents didn’t raise us soft,” Terrell Edmunds said.Hard to argue with the results, not with all three playing in the NFL. Terrell is a rookie safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Sunday, he’ll be in Oakland alongside older brother Trey T. J. Watt Jersey , a second-year running back promoted to the active roster this week following a left ankle injury to starter James Conner. They’ll kick off against the Raiders shortly after youngest brother Tremaine and the Buffalo Bills finish up their game with the New York Jets. Not bad for three kids from southern Virginia separated in age by 3½ years (Trey is 23, Terrell is 21 and Tremaine is 20) and not much else.Terrell and Tremaine made NFL history in the spring when they were the first pair of brothers taken in the opening round of the draft, following in the footsteps of Trey — who spent 2017 with New Orleans — and Ferrell, a two-time Pro Bowl tight end while playing for Miami and Seattle in the late 1980s and early 1990s.Yet ask Trey who the best athlete was growing up, and his response is surprisingly diplomatic.“We all were the guy at different points,” he said. “We all were the guy.”He’s not kidding. Trey ran for nearly 2,600 yards during his senior year at Dan River High School in 2012, when he would take the handoff from Terrell Jerome Bettis Jersey White , who played quarterback. The following fall with Trey now a freshman at Virginia Tech, Terrell ran for more than 1,700 yards himself. Tremaine —at 6-foot-5 and now 205 pounds the biggest of the three — followed as a dynamic two-way player who was just as comfortable tackling guys as he was running them over. All three brothers played together at Virginia Tech in 2015 when life got in the way. Trey, his role diminished, transferred to Maryland. He went undrafted but signed with New Orleans, where he ran for 48 yards on nine carries after the Saints tried to turn him into a fullback/tight end. It didn’t quite take. New Orleans cut him in September. The Steelers signed him to the practice squad the next day.Trey admitted he was just looking for a job after the Saints released him. The fact the Steelers were the first one to reach out was merely a happy coincidence. He didn’t have to worry about trying to fit in or finding a place to live. Having his brother on the roster took care of both.It also, however, threatened to change the dynamic between the two. Terrell is a rapidly maturing starter who got the first sack of his career last week when he chased down Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Tremaine arrived simply trying to keep his career alive. He’s impressed coach Mike Tomlin with his enthusiastic embrace of special teams play — where he will likely see action against the Raiders — and his brother’s encouragement has helped him navigate the sometimes tricky life of a practice squad player.“He never made it uncomfortable for me James Conner Jersey White ,” Trey said. “He never made it seem weird or anything like that. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”One of the reasons no one at Heinz Field might have roared louder when Terrell raced in on the blitz and overwhelmed Rivers.“Prime-time football, doing it to a prime-time player,” Trey said. “I couldn’t have been more excited. Before you know it, I’m going to see his name on Pro Bowl ballots.”Yet it says something about the lessons instilled by his parents long ago that Terrell shrugs at the memory. Yeah, it was a cool moment, but one that came in a game the Steelers (7-4-1) lost on a last-second field goal.“I’m not a loser and I don’t want to be labeled as a loser,” Terrell said. “I just want to go out there and help the team the best way I can and try to stack wins.”Trey will officially join the fight on Sunday afternoon as their journey comes full circle, one in which they won’t be competing against each other Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , but for each other.“It’s something special and we don’t take it for granted,” Trey said. “We’re both in this for the same thing: to make a playoff run.”NOTES: Conner, LB Anthony Chickillo (ankle), RT Marcus Gilbert (knee) and LG Ramon Foster (coach’s decision) did not practice on Thursday. … WR Ryan Switzer (concussion), S Morgan Burnett (back) and long snapper Kameron Canaday (knee) were full participants. For Pittsburgh Steelers fans searching for any apparent ambiguity in Antonio Brown’s goodbye tweet on Tuesday, a post by Adam Schefter of ESPN just 20 minutes later should have clarified matters for anyone holding out hope that the receiver would still be in Pittsburgh next year. With Schefter now reporting that Brown has officially asked for a trade from the Steelers, it is becoming almost impossible to believe there can be any resolution to this saga that ends with the receiver still wearing the Black and Gold. Given the continued lack of communication between the team and their star receiver since the season ended, it has been hard to maintain much optimism that Brown had any intention of repairing the damage done in Week 17. nail in the coffin. If recent rumors are to be believed Jerome Bettis Jersey , the trade market for Brown might not be as strong as the Steelers would have hoped and his recent domestic dispute with the mother of his daughter is unlikely to have helped in that regard, regardless of any alleged blame on his part. The more vocal Brown is about his desire to leave Pittsburgh, the harder it will be for the front office to max his trade value and fans could well be disappointed by the return the Steelers ultimately get for the best wide receiver in the the NFL.

It coincides with the deadline for signing players that count against each team’s total when figuring up compensatory picks. That deadline happens tonight at 9 pm Pacific (midnight ET). After which, all players signed will not count in that total.Several players could be ready to sign with a team or have several teams interested, but those teams are waiting for the deadline to pass. Keep in mind, this only applies to players who are free agents because their previous contract was up. DENVER (AP)From loser’s lament to winning formula Womens Royce Freeman Jersey , the Denver Broncos finally played the clean game rookie head coach Vance Joseph has been pining for ever since they started their eight-game spiral. After every loss, seven of them by double digits, the Broncos (4-9) would agonize over their poor play and bad luck. Theysuggested if they could just manage to get an early lead and win the turnover battle, they’d be able to capitalize on their dominant defense, stick to a ground game and find their way again. They did all that in a 23-0 win over the New York Jets on Sunday that snapped their longest losing streak in a half century. ”It’s the formula we’ve been searching for,” pass rusher Shane Ray said. ”Unfortunately it’s happened kind of late. (But) it’s something we can build off.” The Broncos didn’t turn the ball over and had two takeaways, one on a strip sack by Brandon Marshall and the other on an interception by Darian Stewart . They jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never let up in holding the Jets (5-8) to exactly 100 yards of offense. ”We knew if we played clean football it would look like that,” said Joseph, who found himself on the hot seat after just a dozen games. ”We were plus-2 in turnovers. That’s huge. The field position, our average start was 41 and theirs was 20. It’s really a flip game of what we’ve seen in the last two months.” That was thanks to finally finding a punt returner they could count on in Jordan Taylor, who gave the Broncos field position all afternoon, unlike rookie Isaiah McKenzie, who was benched last week for the remainder of the season after fumbling six times. It also helped that they finally got away from their stubborn insistence on three-receiver sets, the formation they were in for 27 of their 30 sacks and 13 of their 14 interceptions over their previous 10 games. ”Our plan was to run the ball efficiently on first and second down and keep the third downs manageable. If not, punt the ball back,” Joseph said. ”It’s the formula we set out to accomplish and it worked. It worked perfectly.” Other takeaways from Denver’s first shutout in 12 years: JETS JETTISONED: On a day the Bills and Colts combined for 546 yards in a blizzard at Buffalo, the Jets managed a mere 100 yards of offense on a sunny 60-degree day in Denver. The Jets’ 59 yards on the ground and 41 through the air didn’t sit well with tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, either. ”I don’t want to hear that playoff talk,” he said, channeling Jim Mora . ”I don’t want to see this (expletive) again.” McCOWN HURT: Veteran QB Josh McCown’s season might be over after breaking his left hand when he was clobbered by Ray in the second half. ”He kind of rolled over me and either a knee or a foot or something of his caught my hand and it bent funny,” McCown said. ”I knew when it happened something wasn’t right.” McCown, who had left the game briefly earlier with a hip pointer, wasn’t sure if he’ll be back this season. ”We’ll see. I’ll do whatever I can to get ready to go and we’ll see where that leaves me,” he said. ”We still have some more tests and things that we can do and will look at, but my heart is with these guys. I want to finish with these guys and if I can be out there I would love to be out there.” ROAD WOES: The Jets fell to 1-5 on the road. ”It seems like we don’t come out with the same energy we have in home games,” cornerback Morris Claiborne said. ”When you’re on the road, you have to pretty much bring your own energy. We come out flat. … It’s embarrassing Courtland Sutton Jersey , man. Any way you look at it. It’s embarrassing to get shut out.” Especially by a team that hadn’t won a game in 70 days. TALIB RETURNS: Aqib Talib returned from a one-game suspension for his fight with Raiders receiver Michael Crabtree that cost him a $608,996 game check. ”I enjoyed my little time off,” Talib said. ”It was an expensive vacation. I felt good, real fresh out there.” The Jets really didn’t test Talib, who had a single tackle. MILLER TIME: Winning in the NFL is nothing to sneeze at, but Von Miller couldn’t help himself as he sneezed four times on the way up to the podium after the game. ”Must be allergic to winning,” he cracked as he took out his handkerchief. Turning serious, he said, ”Getting back in the winning column is an amazing feeling. We just want hold on to this emotion and remember how it feels to win, and just carry it on through the rest of the season.” NO DOUBTING THOMAS: WR Demaryius Thomas surpassed Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe to move into second place in two categories: most TD catches (56 to 55) and most receiving yards (8,475 to 8,439) ”Man, it means the world,” said Thomas, who led all receivers with eight catches for 93 yards and a TD. ”It just shows the hard work I’ve put in paying off.” Thomas trails Rod Smith (68 TDs and 11,389 yards) in both categories. — The Cowboys haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since winning their last Super Bowl in 1995. Just because he's not active on social media doesn't mean Nathan Peterman is oblivious to the punchlines made at the Buffalo Bills' turnover-prone quarterback's expense."Yeah Bo Jackson Jersey , I know," Peterman said with a laugh Wednesday, upon being advised to not search out his name on the internet. The second-year player doesn't need any reminders of his throwing nine interceptions on just 81 career passing attempts over seven regular-season appearances, none lasting more than three quarters. All Peterman knows is so long as the Bills allow him to keep pulling on a jersey each week, he's going to keep believing better things are just around the corner."I'm still here," Peterman said. "And every time you're here, every time you step on the field, and you're in this building, I'm always ready. I was ready last week. And I'm going to be ready again this week."He had better be, in what could be his latest — and perhaps last — chance to prove himself on Sunday, when the injury-depleted Bills (2-6) host the Chicago Bears (4-3).Buffalo could be left with little choice but to start Peterman.Rookie Josh Allen will miss his third straight game, having already been ruled out due to a sprained elbow on his right throwing arm. And veteran backup Derek Anderson is in the NFL's concussion protocol after he was hurt in the final minutes of a 25-6 loss against New England on Monday.Though coach Sean McDermott has yet to rule out Anderson entirely, the Bills did take the precautionary step of signing free-agent journeyman Matt Barkley on Wednesday in the event they need a backup to Peterman.McDermott said he maintains confidence in Peterman, while at the same time acknowledging the second-year player's rash of struggles."Yeah, I understand where you're coming from on that," McDermott said when asked if he has any concerns over Peterman's self-confidence. He then segued into explaining how the team has resources to assist players and coaches with their confidence levels.Peterman's two-year tenure has been a rocky one since the Bills used a fifth-round pick to draft him out of Pittsburgh. He's best remembered for throwing five interceptions in the first half of a 54-24 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers in what was Peterman's first start. His second season in Buffalo hasn't gone much better.Chosen the season-opening starter, ahead of Allen and after AJ McCarron was traded to Oakland, Peterman went 5 of 18 for 24 yards passing and threw two interceptions before being yanked two series into the third quarter of a 47-3 loss at Baltimore. He hardly fared better in his next appearance, a 20-13 loss at Houston in which Peterman took over after Allen was hurt. After throwing a go-ahead touchdown pass to Zay Jones, Peterman melted down by throwing interceptions on Buffalo's final two series, including one returned for the decisive score."Mistakes are in the past. I've learned from them. I've taken them to heart. I'll never forget them," Peterman said. "But at the same time, I'll learn from them and move on."Peterman's unwavering approach has earned the respect of his teammates."He doesn't show a lot of emotion where things get to him. I know he's heard all the outside stuff," Jones said. "Hopefully, this is the week for him. And I whole-heartedly believe in him."Buffalo's issues on offense go beyond quarterback no matter who's started this season. It's a patchwork unit that has scored 87 points overall, and only two touchdowns in its past five games. The Bears are tied for second in the NFL with 11 interceptions and 17 takeaways.Newly signed Bills receiver Terrelle Pryor said it's on the entire offense to work as a unit rather than place the burden on Peterman."We're going to help him be very successful," said Pryor, who signed with Buffalo on Tuesday. "We're going to make him look good this weekend. Period."No one, Peterman said, is perfect."Stuff happens in life, whether good or bad. How you react to it really is what makes you who you are," Peterman said. "Everything I've been through in the past, that's who I am standing in front of you today."Ranking the 2018 AFC West: Full teams After chipping away at this series throughout the offseason, the season is upon us so it’s time to wrap it up. Based on a position by position analysis here is how I see the teams in the AFC West stacking up based on talent.Best offense - Tie: Oakland Raiders/San Diego ChargersI looked at these two teams from every angle I could find in order to break the tie and I couldn’t find a separating factor. The Chargers have the best quarterback in the division in Philip Rivers, but Derek Carr is next in line for the Raiders. At tackle https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , the two teams are at opposite ends of the spectrum, with the Chargers duo of Russell Okung and Joe Barksdale bookending a group that gave up the fewest sacks in the league last year (18). The former Raider Barksdale didn’t give up a sack at all. Meanwhile the Raiders tackle situation is the most suspect in the division with rookie Kolton Miller handed the responsibility at left tackle and Donald Penn switching sides for the first time in his long career. Where the Raiders make up some ground is with their elite interior line trio of Kelechi Osemele, Rodney Hudson, and Gabe Jackson. Both offenses also benefit from having offensive minded head coaches.Second runner-up - Kansas City ChiefsWhile the Chiefs are starting a new young quarterback which brings a lot of uncertainties, he will have a couple of elite weapons at his disposal. The Chiefs have the division’s best running back in Kareem Hunt and best tight end in Travis Kelce. They also added wide receiver Sammy Watkins to go along with the lethal weapon that is Tyreek Hill. As for the line, they aren’t all-world, but they may have the most balance of any team in the division, with solid though not elite talent across much of the line.Dead last - Denver BroncosI don’t want to underestimate Case Keenum too much. He did some good things with the Vikings last season. He just isn’t on the level of Rivers and Carr and must prove it for more than just one season. What he does have is the division’s top receiving corps. Courtland Sutton is a fantastic young talent who joins Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. After that, there’s nothing special about the Broncos offense. They are lackluster at running back and tight end and along the line as well. Though guard Ronald Leary and center Matt Paradis are very good, the rest of the line is a bit of a question mark.Best Defense - Denver BroncosFrom worst to first when you switch to the other side of the ball. Even with Aqib Talib gone, they still have the best cornerbacks in the division led by Chris Harris Jr and Bradley Roby. They also have the best nose tackle in Domata Peko. The rest of their defensive line and linebackers are also very good including some guy named Von Miller who is joined by fifth overall pick Bradley Chubb which has the potential to give the Broncos another elite pass rush. Just what we need. Runner-up - Kansas City ChiefsThey have the best defensive interior, best linebackers, and best safeties in the division. All that has them not far behind the Broncos as the division’s top defense. If they had more than just Justin Houston to rush the passer, that would make all the difference. But they do have a solid interior duo of Chris Jones and Allen Bailey. They were confident enough in Reggie Ragland and Anthony Hitchens to let Derrick Johnson walk. And of course there’s always Eric Berry patrolling the deep part of the field.Second runner-up - San Diego ChargersWhat the Chargers have is the best pass rushing duo in the division. And that’s saying a lot. Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa are a nightmare around the edges for opposing offenses. What the Chargers don’t have is much else. They may have challenged the Broncos for the best corners, but then they lost Jason Verrett (again) to injury. But Casey Hayward is no slouch. Also pairing rookie safety Derwin James with Jahleel Addae at the safety spot could be quite good.Dead last - Oakland RaidersThis is a no-doubter. Every part of the Raiders defensive unit is suspect. There was one part that was elite. That was the pass rush. But with the removal of Khalil Mack, that pass rush threat went from rivaling the Chargers and Broncos to the worst in the division. They don’t have a single position on the defense that is the best in the division. The linebackers feature a 35-year-old castoff and a journeyman backup, but Tahir Whitehead could be good. They appear to have upgraded the cornerbacks with Gareon Conley and Rashaan Melvin as the starters, but will be without third corner Daryl Worley for the first four games. And it’s possible the two interior defensive linemen PJ Hall and Maurice Hurst could produce early on. Hard to count on rookies to make the difference right away though. Most talented overall1. Kansas City ChiefsThis actually surprised me. But in the end, the Chiefs do what they often do — show themselves to be one of the more balanced teams in the division. And if Pat Mahomes can turn his obvious physical talent into playmaking on the field, they could have something. The Chiefs have hung around for years, mainly because Any Reid is a good coach. But they always seem to choke when it counts. The talent seems to be there, though.2. San Diego ChargersThe offseason favorite to win the division title. They are often an offseason favorite and then get snakebit by injuries or terrible coaching. Anthony Lynn led this team to a 9-7 record in his first season as head coach. With a little bit of luck going his way, they could make another step forward.3. Denver BroncosThey stuck with Case Keenum instead of going after a QB in the draft. That may or may not have been the right decision, but what a draft they had. Getting the top pass rusher in Bradley Chubb at five, one of the best receivers in this draft in Courtland Sutton in the second, Oregon All-time leading rusher Royce Freeman in the third and outstanding slot receiver talent Daesean Hamilton in the third. so they may not make a lot of noise right away. But with the talent they still have on this defense, if they could get some production from the offense, they could make a push. Though the jury is still very much out on if Vance Joseph is the coach who can make that happen.4. Oakland RaidersThis team is bipolar. They have some great talent on the offense along with an offensive minded head coach in Jon Gruden. Though the tackle situation threatens to be a major issue and the wide receiver corps is not nearly as deep or talented as it seemed back in May. But overall, a good unit returning most starters. Then they have a defense that could end up having just one position with a returning starter — Justin Ellis. Bruce Irvin also returns, having switched to defensive end from outside linebacker. And he will now be without his All-World pass rushing partner, Khalil Mack. The two of them were just about all the defense had going for it the past couple years. Now there’s just serious questions. Bringing in Paul Guenther as the defensive coordinator will help, but he’s only going to be as good as the personnel he has to work with. And that ain’t a whole lot.Follow @LeviDamien

Among the changes in Washington for the 2019 season is the addition of two former defensive coordinators to the defensive coaching staff. The moves to hire inside linebackers coach Rob Ryan and defensive backs coach Ray Horton came after the team took its time confirming that defensive coordinator Greg Manuksy would return for a third season. That pause elicited speculation that Manusky might be fired and the presence of in-house replacements — former 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula is also on hand — does little to shoot down the notion that a change could be made.Head coach Jay Gruden tried to downplay that aspect of the moves and Manusky said Wednesday that “everything is good” as the staff works to get on the same page.“I don’t think it’s any balancing act Wes Martin Jersey ,” Manusky said, via the . “It’s just trying to learn the defensive calls, the defensive signals that we have, and try to put it into terms they’ve used over their career.”Washington’s biggest move of free agency came on the defensive side of the ball when they signed safety Landon Collins and things should stay in balance if his arrival helps produce a strong performance by the unit come September. Anything else will likely invite further speculation about Manusky’s job security. Last year Washington drafted wide receiver n, but after a Week One ankle injury he ended up with just nine catches in the regular season. This year Womens Bryce Love Jersey , much more is expected of him.Coach Jay Gruden says that after Jamison Crowder signed with the Jets, it’s on Quinn to take his place — and Gruden thinks Quinn can do that very well.“Obviously losing Crowder hurts, hurts quite a bit,” Gruden said. “But I’m ready to watch Trey Quinn jump in that slot role and dominate the position. I’m excited for him.”Told of Gruden’s comments, Quinn said he was pleased to hear his coach has faith in him, but he knows he has a lot of work to do.“I’ve played two-and-a-half games https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , and that’s not enough to be a starting slot receiver. So I’m going to take this offseason pretty seriously,” Quinn said.Washington heads into the season with Colt McCoy or Case Keenum as quarterback. They’ll need all the help they can get, and if Quinn is as good as Gruden hopes, that would go a long way toward making Washington’s offense better than expected.

He emerged as one of Alabama’s best blockers due to his physicality and understanding of a pass rush. His character and work ethic are top notch, and he has low tread on his tires with just 252 career carries. This past year, Jacobs led the nation with 41% of his carries resulting in a first down or touchdown. WeaknessesThe biggest question mark that comes with Jacob is his lack of playing time at the college level. Of his 120 carries in 2018, only one went for 20-plus yards. VerdictOverall, Josh Jacobs has a rare combination of skillsas he is multidimensional and can impact an offense in a variety of ways. He is a true three-down running back, and was the consensus top player at his position in the 2019 NFL Draft. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah ranked Jacobs as the 8th overall player in the draft. Fit With RaidersWith the retirement of Marshawn Lynch, the Raiders had a need at running back. They filled that hole drafting the best running back in the 2019 NFL Draft. The 2018 rookie kicker was an astounding 16 of 17 on kicks for the Raiders last season including a streak of 15 straight over the final eight games of the season. Simply continuing that streak isn’t so easy.Carlson is 6-5, which is unusual for a kicker. Shorter kickers have it easier because they have a shorter kicking stroke. It’s a lot easier to be consistent when you have a short stroke. Carlson’s long legs offer him a lot of power, but requires a lot more attention to accuracy in his kicking stroke.“It is a little more difficult,” Carlson said of being a tall kicker. “There are some bonuses to being tall. You have longer levers so you can get a little more force on the ball because you have a little longer leg. Also, you have longer legs so a little degree off of my angles on my hip, going to be more off my foot. You have to be that much more detail and meticulous. That’s something I’ve learned over the years in college and especially now being a pro. Just how important I have to treat the details every single day, every single kick.”Some of his accuracy got away from him in his second game with the Vikings. It led to him missing three kicks in a game that would end in a 29-29 tie with division rival Packers. And that got him cut.The week after that the Raiders kicker Mike Nugent was lost for the season. Rich Bisaccia knew who he wanted right off. He wanted Carlson. Not just because Carlson was a 5th round pick by the Vikings just a few months before. Carlson had been on Bisaccia’s radar for years.“Well, I took a little skip from the NFL and went to Auburn for 22 days and Daniel was kind of like my... he was the only guy I got committed to Auburn,” said Bisaccia. “I got a chance to watch him play high school football on film and he actually punted and kicked. I don’t know if you guys remember that, but he actually did both at Auburn when he first got there as well.”Bisaccia made the call, and Carlson shockingly turned him down. Not because he didn’t want to join the Raiders, but because after his experience with the Vikings and his three missed kicks, he needed to get his head right and his technique cleaned up.“Me and my agent obviously talked about it a good bit,” Carlson said of his decision to hold off on signing with an NFL team right away. “We just felt like at that time I could take a break https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , work on some things that I wanted to work on. Once you get into the season, you’re just getting ready for Sunday. You’re getting ready for Sunday, so it was nice to be able to step back, be able to work on a couple little things . . . I just wanted to make sure when that came I was ready and would be ready for the rest of the season. I had to pray about it and think about it. Kind of take a little chance. You never know if a tryout workout is going to come back around, but luckily it did and Oakland’s been a great fit for me. Hopefully just continue to grow from last season and continue to do that this season.”That risky move paid off for Carlson. When he was ready, Bisaccia and the Raiders were still ready for him. They had signed undrafted rookie Matt McCrane in the meantime, who went went 5 for 9 in three games. The Raiders were heading into the bye week so it was the perfect time for them as well. He missed his second field goal attempt with the Raiders in a loss in San Francisco. After he had spent some much time trying to shake off his terrible game for the Vikings that got him cut, he suddenly felt like ‘here we go again.’“You have a lot of emotional ups and downs as a kicker,” said Carlson. “I think I had a conversation with Coach Bisaccia. Coach Gruden pulled me aside even and had a conversation that next week. They just emphasized that they had confidence in me and that they brought me in for a reason. I had already experienced some lows and decided that I’m not going to be the kicker that gets too high when I’m doing well or too low when I’m doing poorly and miss a kick. It’s just about getting back to work and continuing to improve. Just taking it one day at a time because obviously I can’t control what happened in the past, but I can control what happens in the future.”The future is bright for Carlson. Being selected in the fifth round is basically like the first or second round for a kicker. With a few exceptions, that’s typically when the best kickers and punters often come off the board. And he showed that with how he finished his season with the Raiders. And his ups and downs of last season have only helped him.“I think even some of the tough times and moments like that, those experiences help a lot,” said Carlson. “You kind of grow a lot in adversity. Hopefully you learn some things when you’re doing well too and you gain some confidence from that. For me, last season was last season. Yes, it finished off great, but it’s a new chapter now and I’m just trying to get as prepared as I can to help the team get some wins this season. I’m just really excited to be a part of this team and excited where we’re going in the future.”Follow @LeviDamien

On 1st & 10 at 10 on Orange and Blue 760 discussed some of the potential moves with Broncos multimedia journalist Phil Milani.Breaking down the PFT Top 100 free agents, Ryan Edwards, Steve Atwater, and Andrew Mason picked players they thought the Broncos should target. Phil Milani gave his thoughts on the list, and who Denver should go after. Unsurprisingly, CJ Mosley was at the top of his list. However, Mase had an interesting take on the moves available in free agency. Rather than targeting Mosley, why not go after Kwon Alexander, who is a tier two free agent, which allows the Broncos to move on a player like Landon Collins from the tier one free agents. This fills two needs, and would make the Broncos better in 2019.There are several options available to the Broncos, but we will all have to wait and see what John Elway does when free agency begins. What scenario would you like to see for the Broncos in the upcoming free agency period? Kareem Hunt spent the first few weeks of the season doing what he called "dirty work," which mostly amounted to carrying the ball late in games as the Kansas City Chiefs tried to run out the clock. The Chiefs didn't really need the NFL's reigning rushing champ the way Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the offense was sizzling. So there he was, one of the breakout stars of last season, getting brutally tough yards when the entire opposing defense was stacking the box.He never complained. Never seemed down.In fact, the second-year pro insisted all along that he would have his opportunities, once the rest of the league decided they'd better pay attention to the Chiefs' passing game. And lo and behold, that's exactly what has happened the past few weeks, when the Chiefs have been able to pry open massive holes for him in the running game and Mahomes has been able to find him in the passing game."We don't count touches," Chiefs offensive lineman Cam Erving said. "We have a lot of weapons and when a team schemes for one thing, we have another one to pop it back with. Kareem has just done a great job of being patient and waiting for those moments to come."He grabs those moments," Erving added, "and he finishes."He certainly lets the woebegone defender that gets in his way know, too. Rarely does the bruising, Walter Payton-esque running back go down on first contact. Often not second or third.Take his most impressive run last week against Cincinnati, when he appeared to be bottled up near the sideline. Hunt made a nifty spin move to shake one defender, darted to his left to avoid a few more and then hurdled — without getting any head of steam — yet another before finally going down.It was the biggest highlight on a night Hunt scored three touchdowns."I probably made the wrong read," Mahomes said of the run-pass option Dalton Risner Jersey , "and then I handed it to him. It should've been a tackle for a loss and then he broke a tackle and jumped over a dude. This is a very talented (Bengals) defense who have a lot of guys who are built to stop the run, and it just speaks to the strength and the power he has when he runs the football."Those raw physical skills have been on display the past four weeks, beginning with a win in Denver when Hunt ran for 121 yards and a touchdown and caught three more passes for 54 yards. He followed up with a touchdown against Jacksonville, had 185 yards from scrimmage and another score against New England, and had 86 yards rushing and three touchdowns total against Cincinnati."(Hunt) makes it all go because you can't simply ignore the guy," said Broncos coach Vance Joseph, whose team gets another shot Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. "Our first game, he made most of the big plays, honestly. He's a guy that runs downhill and he catches the ball in the pass game."In other words, he's the perfect running back for a system that is predicated on misdirection."He did well last year, too," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, "but he's playing as well as any running back in the National Football League. He's not only running the ball like crazy, he's also catching the football. I actually took him out before he broke the 100-yard mark last week."He's punishing people right now," Reid added with a grin, "and it's something to watch."Yet just like Hunt took his relative lack of production the first few weeks in stride, he's done just the same with his sudden surge of success. He heaped praise on his offense line, showered Mahomes and the rest of the offense with accolades and complemented his coaches on getting him the ball."I'm just a guy who is going to come in and try my best to make every effort possible to score a touchdown," he said. " It's about the team winning. Whatever I can do to help the team win, I'm a team guy. I'm down to do whatever."Hunt did finally let his bravado show a little when Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris, who was dressing nearby, described him as "a bull." Hunt thought for a moment and decided that was a pretty good label, then he realized that bulls don't really carry much workload."I like to be an ox, too," he said.Notes: Free safety Daniel Sorensen (broken leg) returned to practice Wednesday. He'd been on the IR since early in training camp and is eligible to play in games beginning Week 8. ... Strong safety Eric Berry (heel), Linebacker Justin Houston (hamstring) and center Mitch Morse (concussion) did not practice. ... Linebacker Terrance Smith tore his ACL on a kick return against Cincinnati, Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said. He went on IR earlier this week.

They have already hosted OL Dalton Risner, and will also have Washington OL Kaleb McGary in for a visit tomorrow.McGary(6'7", 317 lbs) is a massive offensive lineman, but does not have prototypical arm length for an offensive tackle(32 7/8"). Some think he can move inside if needed, and the Redskins need depth everywhere on the offensive line. McGary looks like a Day 3 project pick, but could have value long-term.The Redskins lost swing tackle Ty Nsekhe in free agency. Geron Christian was drafted in the 3rd round to provide OT depth, but he was always considered an investment in the future who need NFL-level strength and conditioning. He was lost for the season with a torn MCL.Kaleb McGary's draft profile:StrengthsHuge tackle, he’d almost be 6-7 but he’s short a 1/8th of an inch. Well built all around pretty athletic for his size.Strong fundamentals and strong technique. Plays with balance and a strong base. Feet look better than you would think for a man his size as he can mirror pretty well. Makes contact with a strong punch and plays with good arm extension. Has good strength to maintain his leverage.Has very good awareness and makes good decisions. Knows where his QB is and where his opponent is. Keeps his eyes peeled on the edge and knows when to peel off his assignment to take care of other threats.Moves people in the run game. Comes off the ball quick and has the athleticism to get quickly to the second level and make contact.Physical player who can finish.WeaknessesCan give away too much ground pass blocking at times after contact is made when faced with speed and power. Needs to be more consistent with his punch and beat his man at the point of attack.Tall guy who does his best to get low. When he doesn’t it makes ceed ground especially to speed rushers and he has to catch up. Has a bit of stiffness in his lower half.Known past medical issue with his heart. He’ll have to get a clean bill of health to give teams confidence to draft him.Let’s see his work (#58 RT):More Kaleb McGary videos The loss of Matthew Stafford to injury continues to take a toll on the Detroit Lions, and the losses on the field keep adding up.Backup quarterback Jeff Driskel threw three interceptions in the latest defeat, 19-16 to the Washington Redskins on Sunday Wes Martin Jersey , and embattled coach Matt Patricia continues to face questions about his job status with the season slipping away. Detroit (3-7-1) has lost four in a row and seven of eight.“He's our head coach, and he's the guy we’re really behind,” right guard Graham Glasgow said of Patricia. “We just need to execute, and I think at the end of the day that comes down to everybody on the team: coaches, players. I don't think that gets pinned on one person in particular.”Driskel is filling in for Stafford, who has missed three consecutive games with back and hip injuries. Jim Caldwell was fired after the Lions went 9-7 in 2017, and they’re 9-17-1 since Patricia was picked to replace him.“I definitely think the team is fighting,” Patricia said. That fight isn’t translating into wins. The Lions led the lowly Redskins 16-13 in the fourth quarter but couldn’t put the game away. Driskel was intercepted by Washington’s Quinton Dunbar in the final minute, a play that put the Redskins in position to drive for the go-ahead field goal.Driskel, who was 20 of 33 for 207 yards Womens Bryce Love Jersey , took responsibility for the turnovers. Patricia might take the fall for those and other blunders.“We all saw what the mistakes are,” Patricia said. “We all saw them out there. We have to do a better job of coaching it and executing it.” yet things started going off the rails before that. Detroit’s defense has struggled and wasn’t good enough Sunday to send the game into overtime.Asked about taking over the defensive play calling, Patricia became, well, defensive, and refused to go into details. He spent six seasons as Bill Belichick’s defensive coordinator with the New England Patriots before getting his first head NFL job.Glasgow said reporters “can speculate” about how players respond to concerns about Patricia’s job security. He was more direct when asked if this was the toughest loss of a tough season.“Right now it definitely feels that way,” he said. “Yeah, this one doesn't feel good.”
